Mary F. Strachn

Mary F. Strachn, age 83, of Hillsdale, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on January 5, 1943, in Springfield, Ohio, to Jacob and Ione (Helvering) Nichols, she grew up surrounded by family and later made her home in Hillsdale.

Mary was a loving wife and mother who cherished time spent with her family. She and her husband, Raymond Strachn, whom she married on March 13, 1976, enjoyed camping together at sites that featured live music. She had a deep affection for animals and cared for several cats and dogs over the years. Mary also took great pleasure in dining out, often found at Golden Corral or the Finish Line.

She is survived by her three children, John (Wendy) Ellsworth, Allen Ellsworth, and Bill Ellsworth; seven step-children, Cynthia (Sherman) Lewis, Deborah (Marvin) Walentowki, Steve (Carlene) Strachn, Jeffery (Earlene) Strachn, David (Debi) Strachn, Tracy (Debbie) Strachn, and Timothy (Tina) Strachn; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Donna Rushlon.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Ray; her daughter, Nancy Rose; the father of her children, John Ellsworth; and three siblings, Shirley Sheffer, Joanne Bliss, and Harold Nichols.
