Mary Evelyn Holt

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Holt, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Monday morning, March 16, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 3, 1954 in Dalton, Georgia , a daughter of the late Grady and Effie Stokes. She was also preceded in death by her son James Daniel “Dude” Holt, brothers Jimmy Stokes, Lamar Stokes, Eugene Stokes, Edward Stokes, sisters Dorothy Thaker, Ora Roberson.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Danny Holt of the residence; daughter, Brenda Buchanan of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Zachary Buchanan of Dalton, GA, Jasmine Holt of North Carolina, Daniel Holt of Dalton, GA; special niece, Lisa and Raymond Cantrell of Dalton, GA; three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Evelyn Holt will be held Friday March 20, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Billy Weatherford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday. She will be laid to rest beside her son at the Varnell Cemetery.
