Mary Etta Jones

Mary Etta Jones (Speicher), 61, of Felton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, after a courageous four-year battle with Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer.

Born in Seaford, Delaware, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital to Bonnie June (Tinley) and the late Randall Earl Speicher, Sr., Mary Etta was raised in Harrington and graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1982. She built a successful career as a paralegal, working with attorneys and legal professionals across the state. Known for her dedication, knowledge, and strong work ethic, she earned the deep respect of her colleagues and retired in 2024 from ICE Mortgage Technology, formerly Simplifile.

Mary Etta carried a contagious energy and a smile that could light up any room. She genuinely loved people and had a rare gift for making others feel cared for and valued. She cherished music and dancing, especially to artists like Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, and Whitney Houston, and was always the first on the floor for the electric slide. Above all, she treasured her family. A devoted mother, she shared a deeply close bond with her children and kept those connections strong by calling or texting them every Friday with the simple message, “Happy Friday, your mama loves you.” She was the heart and glue of her family, finding her greatest joy in hosting gatherings, holidays, and celebrations.

Mary Etta shared a loving marriage with her husband, Donald, filled with devotion and partnership. Together they traveled in their camper, built and cared for their dream home, attended Lincoln Cornerstone Church, and raised their family side by side. In her free time she enjoyed walking her dog Cody, gardening, cooking and baking for loved ones, and relaxing in her backyard paradise by the pool. She also treasured her close friendships, sharing lunch dates, paint nights, bingo, shopping trips, and long conversations.

She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Earl Speicher, Sr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Allen Jones; her daughter, Brandi Rachel Sasada (Joseph); her son, Brandon Mark Cashdan; her stepdaughter, Cassandra Lynn (Cassie) Yost; her grandson, CJ Yost; her mother, Bonnie June Speicher; her brother, Randall (Randy) Earl Speicher, Jr. (Susan); her sister, Wanda Ann Speicher; and several other cherished family members and friends.
