Mary Esperanza Barela, age 78, born in Fort Sumner, New Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was called to be with the Lord on March 2, 2026. Mary is survived by her children, son Danny Barela, and wife, Charlean Barela, daughter Maria L. Barela, grandchildren, Nicole Larranaga-War, and husband, Nathan War, Amanda Barela, Antonio Nieto, and fiancée, Soriada Soto, Tesla Barela, Santos Herrera, Estevan Manriquez, great grandchildren, Analeeza Barela, Candace Barela, Conrad Barela, Julian War, Harmony War, Mariano Cerrillo, Amarlina Cerrillo, and Mateo Cerrillo, siblings, brother Pete George Lucero, and wife Pauline Lucero, sister Isabel Lucero, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her mother and father, Pilar and Margarita Lucero, husband of 50 years, Ernest Daniel Barela, daughter Anita A. Barela, sisters Lorena Sena, Tana Sena, and brothers David Lopez, Pilar Lucero Jr, and Joe Freddy Lucero. We are thankful for the prayers and support that Mary’s family has received during this difficult time. Information on Mary’s services will be provided soon.
