Mary Ellen VanHorn, 82, of Chesterhill, passed away on March 15, 2026, at her residence. Born on March 7, 1944, in Chesterhill, she spent her working years as a dedicated home health aide, caring for others with the same quiet commitment she showed her own family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. VanHorn, of the home; sons Todd and Carl VanHorn, both of Chesterhill; daughter Sherry White of Beverly; brothers Jim Byers of Athens and Philip Byers of The Plains; sisters Sharon Byers of Athens and Dorothy Pilos of Florida; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, daughter Sheryl Mayle, and sister Evelan Byers. She will be remembered for the steady love and care she gave to her large family throughout her life.
