West Chester, PA

Mary E. O'Neill (née Donegan), of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (née Schofield) Donegan.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, John J. O'Neill; her cherished daughter, Maureen Ellen O'Neill; and her brothers, Francis and Frederick Donegan. She is survived by her loving children, Mary Kate Sabatino (Thomas), John O'Neill (Gina), and Kevin O'Neill (Melanie). She was the cherished grandmother of Alyssa Thomas (Pat), Conor O'Neill, Bryan O'Neill, and Ethan O'Neill, and the proud great-grandmother of Carson Thomas, Vivian MacIntyre, and Isla MacIntyre. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Edwin Donegan and Bernadette Lonergan, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Mary was known for her strength, generosity, and unmistakable spirit. Tough as nails yet deeply kind, she possessed a warm smile and a wonderful laugh that brought comfort and joy to those around her. A hardworking and selfless mother, she always put her family first and remained fiercely devoted to her husband. She and John shared a rock-solid marriage built on love, loyalty, and faith that endured through life’s many ups and downs.

A woman of deep faith, Mary was actively involved at St. Joan of Arc Church, where she and John faithfully served for many years as the accountants for the parish carnival. Protective of those she loved, she believed strongly in forgiveness and second chances. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with family, and in her later years, playing poker and relaxing with her beloved “happy hour” martinis. Even after the loss of her husband, she continued to live with strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be remembered as a strong, faithful woman whose love for her family never wavered.
