October 6, 1941— March 9, 2026
Kittery, ME
Mary E. Delcourt (Templeton), 84, of Wildwood Lane in Kittery, Maine, passed away on March 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 6, 1941, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the youngest child of the late Walter and Marjorie Templeton. The family later moved to Howland, Maine, where Mary grew up. She graduated from Cony High School in Augusta in 1960 and worked for State Government Services until 1965.
In October 1965, Mary married Melvin, the love of her life. Together they raised five children in their Kittery home. A lifelong devout Roman Catholic, Mary was a communicant of St. Raphael’s Church and later St. Christopher’s Church. She served for decades as rectory housekeeper, was active in the Altar Society, and generously gave her time to Table of Plenty and Meals on Wheels. Through Melvin, she also supported Knights of Columbus activities. Mary had a remarkable talent for cooking and baking. After graduating from the Wilton Academy of Cake Decorators, she created beautiful custom cakes from scratch for birthdays, weddings, and special occasions, with customers coming from across the Seacoast to order her work.
Mary is survived by her children: Raymond and his wife Wendy of South Berwick, Maine, and their children Eleanor (and husband Mathew) and Elizabeth (and husband Kyle); David and his wife Carrie of Nottingham, New Hampshire, and their children April (and wife Kendra), Addison, and Olivia; Peter of Brookfield, Vermont, and his son Pierce; Marjorie and her husband Neil MacLeod of Kittery, Maine, and their children Kate, Morgan, and Ayden; and Christopher and his wife Stephanie of Kathleen, Georgia, and their children Brady, Kason, and Graham. She is also survived by her brother Walter, her sister Joan, and was predeceased by her sister Jean, along with many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
