April 15, 1948— March 10, 2026
Parlin, NJ
Mary Drill of Parlin, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 10, 2026. Born on April 15, 1948, in South Amboy, New Jersey, she was a devoted mother to Raymond, Michael, and Sandra, and a loving mother-in-law to Cindy and Melissa. She was a proud grandmother to Raymond, Collin, Emily, and Oliver, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her step-grandson Errol Beutell, goddaughter Tara Seamanik, cousins James, Tom, and Bill Brown, and her cherished lifelong friends Judy and Leo McCabe of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was preceded in death by her father Harry Brown, mother Ethel Brown, and sister Louise Brown.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, Mary started the Center Deli of South Amboy as a young wife. She later worked as a financial aid counselor at DeVry, director of sales at Days Inn, and as a loss consultant in the salvage industry. Her interests were many and varied: she cherished summers at the Jersey Shore and strolling its boardwalks, researched genealogy, prepared traditional Hungarian meals, played cards with friends, attended Tricky Tray fundraisers with family, hunted for diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park, enjoyed social media, and faithfully attended Catholic Mass each Sunday. One of her most meaningful endeavors was opening her home as a host grandmother to more than thirty foreign exchange students, touching countless lives in the process. In her later years, she found deep contentment in a quiet life at home surrounded by her pets and close family.
Mary was an extraordinary woman—profoundly authentic and unapologetically passionate. She taught her children strength, resilience, and resourcefulness. She passed peacefully at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, with her daughter by her side, and is now joyfully reuniting with loved ones who went before her.
