Mary Jensen ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Mar. 17, 2026.Mary Diane Jensen, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy, Utah, on March 15, 2026Diane was born June 6, 1939, to Orson William Jensen and Mary Iona Freeman. She was raised in Midvale, Utah, alongside her four brothers: Boyd, Noel, Paul, and Brian.Diane grew up in a close-knit family and took her role as a sister seriously, working throughout her life to keep her family connected as she preserved family memories, traditions, and history. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1961 in education. She served as an elementary school teacher at Midvalley Elementary School for 34 years. During those years, she formed lasting friendships with colleagues who supported and enriched her life. Diane spent her adult life in her home in Sandy, Utah, surrounded by caring family members and neighbors who became dear friends.Diane had a deep love of learning and a lifelong appreciation for literature, art, music, and the performing arts. She delighted in writing poetry, visiting museums, listening to and performing music, and attending concerts and theatrical performances. She also found joy in gardening and in participating in family history work. Known for her determination and quiet strength, Diane faced life's challenges with faith and perseverance. She cherished her nieces and nephews and treasured the many meaningful experiences they shared together. A steady source of love and encouragement, she took great joy in supporting the talents, interests, and accomplishments of her family, and enthusiastically cheered on the artistic pursuits and creativity of her nieces and nephews.Diane was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and faithfully served Him throughout her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings across the organizations of the Church, where she loved teaching the gospel and serving others. She especially valued her service in the Jordan River Utah Temple and her time as a ward missionary, where she shared her knowledge of the scriptures, the doctrines and history of the Church and her deep testimony of Jesus Christ.She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brothers, Boyd and Noel. She is survived by her brothers Paul and Brian (Launa), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her love of learning and the arts, her faithful discipleship, and the kindness she shared with those around her. Her influence lives on in the many lives she touched as a teacher, sister, aunt, and friend.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lone Peak 4th Ward building located at 2080 E. Pinecrest Lane (11530 South), Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:00-10:15 a.m. prior to services.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
