Mary D. Abitz, 91, of Oshkosh, WI passed away on February 26, 2026 at Parkview Health Center. She was born on October 21, 1934 in Kimberly, WI to parents William and Emma Maas, one of 11 children. Mary married Raymond F. Abitz on December 30, 1953 in Kimberly, WI. They were parents to 5 children.Mary loved to go on bus trips to the casino, traveling, including a trip abroad to Russia. She also enjoyed people watching, dancing and her beloved parakeets. Mary was a Foster Grandparent for Oaklawn Elementary and a volunteer to other organizations.Mary was an Oshkosh resident for most of her life and a homemaker. She also managed Mary's Mini Mart which was located near the UW Oshkosh campus.She is survived by her sons, Michael (Deb) Abitz of Nekoosa, WI, Daniel (Christa Van Fleteran) Abitz of Oshkosh, WI and Terry (Judy) Abitz of Appleton, WI; two daughters, Susan (Kevin) Otto of Oshkosh and Debbie Abitz; brothers, Jerry, Lyle and William; sisters, Millie and Rosalie; she is further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Raymond F. Abitz; brothers Raymond, Donald, Robert and Thomas; sisters Darlene and Baby Maas; her son Gary Abitz, and her granddaughter Sarah Otto.A private ceremony will be held.Special thank you to Aurora Health Center of Fond du Lac, WI, Aurora Hospice at Home, and Parkview Health Center of Oshkosh, WI.
