Mary Couch Jones

Mary Couch Jones, daughter of the late Tezell Eddie Couch Sr. and Ella Louise Couch, was born on November 5, 1948, at Duke University Medical Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. She passed away on March 6, 2026, after a long period of acute and chronic illness, under the devoted care of her loving sister Linda Miller, niece Keyla Miller, and the dedicated health care assistants and agencies who supported her.

Mary graduated from Hillside High School in the Durham Public School system and remained a faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church for many years, attending regularly until her health no longer allowed. She was married to James Jones for many years until his passing in 2004.

She is survived by her sons Joseph Jones Sr. and his wife Mesha Jones, and Juan Jones and his fiancée Marille Cox; her grandchildren Jeremy Hayes, Lyric Parker, Jaleel Jones, Joseph Jones Jr., Jerimiah Jones, and Jaylen Jones; her sister Linda Miller; brother-in-law Warren Miller Jr.; nieces and nephews including Keytha Miller, Keyla Miller, Linda Harris, Hariette Harris, Yolanda Couch, and many other loving relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
