Grammer. She passed away on March 9, 2026.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, William David Gay and Gregory Alton Gay.Her survivors include her husband, Joel Gay; sister, Andrea Bennett; niece, Beth Katz (Scott); and great-nieces, Rebecca Barron, Emma Catherine Barron, and Jaye Katz, along with relatives by marriage and many friends.Charlotte graduated from Hapeville High School in 1962. She married Joel in 1963, and they were married for 62 years. Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and homemaker, and at times a farm hand when Joel was out of town. She and Joel helped love and care for great-nieces Rebecca, Emma Catherine, and Jaye during their childhoods and were a meaningful influence on their lives, creating many cherished memories.Charlotte will be remembered for her spunky personality and joyful spirit. She loved to dance-line dancing was her specialty-and her favorite song, "Dancing Queen," was ever on her cell phone ringtones...that says it all. She was a gracious hostess who opened their home for gatherings with family and friends over the years.Charlotte had a deep love for animals. At any given time, there were always numerous cats and dogs at the home. She loved her "babies."Charlotte was a Christian, and in years past was active at Unity Baptist Church in Newnan, especially with the summer youth ministry trips and kindergarten.A few years ago, she began a journey that took her down a path into a slower paced and confusing world. She was diagnosed last year with Alzheimer's, a sad and cruel disease.Her fun-loving and kind spirit will live on in our memories. We were truly blessed to have her in our lives.
