Mary Ramey ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Turner Funeral Home - Waynesboro on Mar. 17, 2026.SUNDAY, April 9, 1939 found the day witnessing the birth of the youngest daughter of the union of the late Mr. Golden and Mrs. Louella (Frost) McGay, a baby girl who would be named MARY CATHERINE. She would later marry the late Mr. William Earl Ramey. To this union, nine children were born.She loved to cook and babysit. She always looked after other people's children, including her own. She truly fit the definition of a neighbor. She was also a faithful member of Sweet Hope Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed.During the afternoon of March 14, 2026, Mrs. Ramey's journey on the earthly plane came to a quiet end and she embarked on her transition to eternity.There are many hearts surrounded in love with the memories she left, and they include five daughters: Barbara Hall, Cathy (James) Jackson, Teresa (Patrick) Washington, Lisa (Douglas) McGill, and Dora Ramey; one daughter in law, Mary D. Ramey; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons: John L., Jefferson, and David Ramey; one daughter: Mary E. Ramey Ward; one grandson: Cleveland Ramey; three brothers: Whit McGay, Junior McGay, and Sam McGay, and three sisters: Gussie Glover, Bethel Hundley Hodge, and Ollie Mae Wilson.Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 12:00 noon at Sweet Hope MB Church, with Rev. Donald R. Gandy serving as the eulogist. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens.
