Mary Catherine Cain, age 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, a patient of Homeland Hospice. Mary was a resident of her home at Bethany Village for over 3 years.Mary was born on Friday, November 11, 1938 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Iva Mae (Bittenbender) Cope. Throughout her younger years, Mary attended the Catawissa area schools, and later graduated from the Catawissa High School in 1956. On November 1,1957, Mary married her loving husband, Paul M. Cain Jr. Mary was an active member of the New Hope Church in Lime Ridge for most of her life. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mary enjoyed spending her time crafting and especially enjoyed embroidery. She loved gardening and spending her free time doing puzzles. Mary adored traveling and would often take trips to go camping and hiking.In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by seven of her siblings; Ralph E. Cope, Claris A. Swank, Sue Ann Knorr, Larry Lee Cope, Leon M. Cope, Patricia L. Hillard, and John W. Cope.Survivors include her beloved husband of 68 years; Paul M. Cain Jr. of Mechanicsburg, her four children; Barry D. Cain and wife, Sandra, of Camp Hill, Edwin R. Cain of Camp Hill, Paula D. Kerr of Sherwood, AR, Richard P. Cain and wife, Marcia, of Rochelle, VA, four grandchildren; Alexander G. Cain and his partner, Sarah, of Harrisburg, Catherine J. Kerr and her partner, Scott, of Springfield, MO, Tyler D. Cain and wife, Emily, of Collingswood, NJ, Natalie J. Kerr of Springdale, AR, her two great-grandsons; Jordan and Nolan Cain, as well as several siblings; Karen Hopkins and husband, Ralph, Mount Vernon, ME, Judy Lee of Boca Raton, FL, Randall E. Cope and wife, Cathy, Hetlerville, and two sisters-in-law; Carol Cope of Lime Ridge and Barbara Cortright of Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Lime Ridge New Hope Church, 6405 4th St. Bloomsburg, PA.Funeral Services will begin on Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Lime Ridge New Hope Church with Pastor Vince Keister, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Lime Ridge Methodist Cemetery.
