New Albany, IN
Mary “Bonita” (Bronger) Carrico, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on October 19, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the eighth and youngest child of Clifford and Mary Ellen (Fallon) Bronger. A devoted mother and grandmother, Bonita was also a passionate poet whose love of writing brought joy and meaning to her life and to those around her.
A woman of deep faith, she remained a devout Catholic and longtime member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, formerly St. Helen. As the family matriarch, she created countless lasting memories, nurturing relationships that spanned generations and kept her loved ones closely connected.
Bonita was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carrico, and her siblings, sisters Mary Rita “Reets” and Rose Carmel “Butch,” and brothers Nick, Pat, Marty, and Jerry Bronger. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Todd (Donna), Tony (Carol), Terry (Kim), and Tom (Marcia) Carrico, who each carry their mother’s spirit in their hearts.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Michael (Brittany), Mary Elizabeth, Mackenzie (Andrew), Landon, Nolan, Carson, Jacob, Cheylen, Brandyn, and Derek, and her great-granddaughters, Lainey, Ellie, and Kendall. Bonita is also survived by her sister, Nora Ann, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members she held dear.
