Rocky Face, GA
Annette Boyd, a beloved matriarch and longtime resident of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 14, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on December 13, 1933, in the front room of the family farmhouse in Rocky Face, she was the oldest child of the late Glenn Sloan and Rosaline Harris Sloan. She attended West Side High School and graduated from Dalton High School. On January 6, 1951, she married Hillard Boyd of Dalton, Georgia.
As a devoted wife, Annette embraced life across several states while Hillard served in the United States Air Force, residing in San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Warner Robins, Georgia. The couple later made their home in Forest Park, Morrow, Dalton, and Rocky Face, Georgia, before settling in McMinnville, Tennessee. A woman of deep faith, she was an active member of Rocky Face Baptist Church, Victory Baptist Church, Dalton Second Baptist Church (formerly Crown View Baptist Church), Fellowship Bible Church, and First Baptist Church of McMinnville.
Professionally, Annette contributed her skills at Coastal States Insurance, Southern Airways, Collins and Aikman, and the Georgia Department of Labor, where she retired. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, shopping, and crossword puzzles. She and Hillard shared many happy years camping with friends, particularly treasuring their winters at Big Tree Campground in Arcadia, Florida, and later at Charlevoi Condominiums in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Annette is survived by her son, Rodney (Debby) Boyd of McMinnville, Tennessee; grandchildren Brook Holmes of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Seth (Ashton) Boyd of Viola, Tennessee, and Ty (Emily) Boyd of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren Rossie (Jonathan) Thompson, Jillian (Neal) Kennedy, Adaline and Beckley Boyd, and Eleanor Boyd; and great-great-granddaughter Lily Kennedy. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene (JE) Lindsey, brothers Bill (Alice) Sloan and Wayne (Dorothy) Sloan, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillard Boyd, brothers Tom (Ozella) Sloan and Lamar (Henda) Sloan, and brother-in-law Bill (Barbara) Boyd.
