Mary Anne Elvis, 65, passed away peacefully at her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1960, in Timmonsville, South Carolina, to the late Jack Dempsey Purvis and Mary Strickland Purvis.

A graduate of South Florence High School, Mary Anne brought her bright and welcoming spirit to the Myrtle Beach Unemployment Office, where she worked for many years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Effingham Presbyterian Church, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Above all, she cherished her family, loving them with her whole heart. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and zest for life touched everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband, Barry Bernard Elvis; sons, Brandon Elvis and his wife, Lindsay, and Justin Elvis, all of Myrtle Beach; brothers, Don Purvis and his wife, Pat, of Santee, and Michael Purvis of Bluffton; sister, Vicky Turner of Florence; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
