Passed March 5, 2026
South Windsor, CT
Mary Ann (Italiano) Cahoon, beloved wife of Jeffrey M. Cahoon, of South Windsor, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on March 5, 2026, at the age of 68. She faced cancerous brain tumors with courage and grace for nearly twelve years, surrounded by her loving family in her final days.
Born in Westerly, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. Italiano Jr. and Nancy R. Italiano of Pawcatuck, Connecticut. A 1975 graduate of Stonington High School, Mary Ann went on to earn a BS in accounting from Bryant College in 1979 and an MBA from the University of New Haven in 1983. She built a long career in accounting and finance, working at the Westerly Community Credit Union, CIGNA, Prudential Retirement, and Collins Aerospace, where she retired.
While living in Westerly, she was an active member of the Napatree Business and Professional Women’s Club and received their “Woman of the Year” award in 1990 for organizing the group’s first annual craft show in Wilcox Park, an event that continued for several years. Mary Ann found joy in crafts and antiquing, and she and Jeff shared a deep love for live entertainment and concerts. Together they traveled extensively through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams with a trip to Egypt and Jordan three years ago. The journey that brought her the greatest pride was the one she made last November to attend her son Kyle’s wedding in Savannah.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Jeffrey; her children, Ryan M. Cahoon of Granite Falls, Washington, and Kyle A. Cahoon and his wife Jasmyne of Savannah, Georgia; her siblings, Joseph J. Italiano III and his wife Maria of League City, Texas, Rose Majeika and her husband John of West Kingston, Rhode Island, Nancy Elliott and her husband Kyle of Fairfield, Connecticut, and Carole Quental of Southport, Connecticut; her grandchildren, Bentley, Sage, and Keegan Cahoon; her great-grandchild Cora; and several nieces and nephews.
