Mary Ann Borer, age 90, of Albion, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, surrounded by her family at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion.
Born on April 8, 1935, to Anton and Rose (Mescher) Seier, Mary Ann grew up on a farm near Petersburg and attended St. John’s School through the eighth grade. In 1953, she married Ervin Borer, the love of her life, and together they raised ten children while building a life centered on faith, family, and hard work on the farm. She later devoted many years to Environmental Health at Boone County Hospital in Albion, working from 1990 until her retirement in 2007. Known for her reliability and strong work ethic, she brought the same dedication to everything she did.
Mary Ann’s greatest joy was her family. A devoted mother, she cherished time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. She was a talented quilter who also loved gardening, sewing, baking, canning vegetables from her garden, and playing cards. She had a special affection for cats and took great pride in creating a warm, well-organized home filled with care and love. A lifelong member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society, she remained active in her faith communities at St. John’s in Petersburg, Holy Family in Lindsay, and St. Michael’s in Albion.
She is survived by her children Tom (Diana) Borer of Clearwater, Gail (Kathryn) Borer of Albion, Nancy (Kenny) Parks of Neligh, Ann (Floyd) Knust of Springfield, Illinois, Alice (Jim) Mescher of Albion, Shirley (Jerry) Chramosta of Kearney, and Keith (Nora) Borer of Kearney; daughter-in-law Jean Borer of Norfolk; 29 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sister Rosie Pelster of Petersburg; brother Joe (Connie) Seier of Petersburg; sister-in-law Lorraine Seier of Petersburg; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, daughter Elaine, sons Floyd and Dean, granddaughter Jennifer Henry, great-grandson Klayton Parks, and several siblings.
