Idabel, OK

Mary “Alberty” Maxwell, a beloved member of the Idabel community and a devoted mother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Medical City Plano, Texas. Born on July 24, 1942, in Idabel, Oklahoma, she was the third child of Richard and Christmas (Alma) Alberty.

A 1961 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Mary married Rayford Hearn and together they raised four children, one of whom, Stephanie, preceded her in death. She devoted many years to serving others through her work with Idabel Headstart and later contributed to the communities of Idabel and Ashdown, Arkansas, during her time at Walmart. She found great joy in socializing and spending time with her family and friends, nurturing warm and lasting connections with all who knew her.

Mary was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments, a reflection of the strong bonds she cultivated throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her children Doris King of Idabel, Feliz (Deb) of Ashdown, AR, Eric Hearn of Tucson, AZ, and LaDell Staten of Idabel, OK; as well as Ashley (D’Ante) Alberty of California, Alma Jean (Harry) Grisson of Idabel, OK, Yulecia (Richard) White, and Angela (Bobby) Wells. She is also survived by her brothers James Lee Alberty of Hugo, OK, Rev. Larry (Cassandra) Alberty of Grant, OK, and Isaiah (Nicky) of Paris, TX; her sisters Linda Brown, Beatrice Royal, and Thelma Jean (David) Warhop, all of Idabel, OK; and by her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Christmas (Alma) Alberty; four brothers, Marlin, Richard, Orrie, and Alvie Alberty; and two sisters, Wyoming McDonald and Alma Lee Alberty. Mary’s steadfast spirit, her dedication to family, and her warm nature will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
