Preserve forever →Mary A. "Sue" Del Greco
July 12, 1942— March 8, 2026
Reading, MA
Mary (Caterino) “Sue” Del Greco of Reading passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 12, 1942, in Somerville, Massachusetts, Sue was the beloved daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Caterino. A warm, kind, caring, and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, she found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She was never happier than when cooking for them, with a pot of meatballs and sauce or a platter of chicken cutlets always waiting on the stove, often followed by her cherished wine cookies.
In 1964, Sue married Peter, the love of her life, and together they raised their family in Reading. She was the devoted mother of Joseph Del Greco and his wife Barbara, the late Frank Del Greco and his wife Maria, and Peter John Del Greco and his wife Sally. She was the cherished grandmother of Christina, Michael, Marissa, and Henry Del Greco, attending their school events and sports activities whenever she could. Sue and Peter especially treasured their family vacations together, particularly those spent in Marco Island, Florida. For Sue, family was everything.
She graduated from St. Joseph’s School in Somerville in 1960 and worked for many years in medical offices before retiring happily in 2007. Deeply committed to her church and community, she volunteered for years with her sons’ Cub Scout troops and at countless bake sales and fundraisers at St. Athanasius. In retirement, she found quiet purpose in her knitting group, lovingly making prayer shawls for those in need. Throughout her life, Sue’s strong faith and belief in the resurrection sustained her, especially in her final years. Her family is grateful for the compassionate care she received from the teams at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as the devoted support of Marge Hurley and her team at Four Seasons, Jamila Rammah, and many dear friends and family members.
