Born on September 20, 1933, in Haldeman, Kentucky, Marvin was the beloved son of Floyd and Bertha Wilson.Marvin spent his childhood in the close-knit town of Haldeman, where he developed a lifelong passion for basketball during his school years. Despite being the shortest on his team, he was renowned for making impressive half-court shots. His school reunions in Morehead, Kentucky, were always of great importance to him, as they allowed him to reconnect with old friends and relive cherished memories.After completing his high school education, Marvin moved to Michigan, where he began working at Great Lakes Steel. Dedicated to serving his country, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served honorably for four years aboard the Sundew. Upon returning home, he continued his career at Great Lakes Steel before eventually accepting a position at Monsanto, where he worked until his retirement.Marvin's love for his family was unparalleled. He found immense joy in hosting family barbecues, where his culinary skills, especially his steaks, were celebrated by all who attended. A devout Christian, Marvin was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Wyandotte, where he nurtured his faith and formed enduring friendships.Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Wilson, his parents, Floyd and Bertha Wilson, and his nine siblings. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in his surviving family: his children, Bruce (Pam) Wilson, Duane (Mary) Wilson, Kane (Karen) Wilson, and Linda (Jeff) Ruelle; his twelve grandchildren, Melanie, John William "Billy" (Jacqueline), Robert "Bob" (Leslie), Jessica (Nick), Kristen (Nick), Katie (Dave), Andrew "Andy" (Jessica), Megan (Tom), Ryan (Carissa), Jimmy (Katie), Eric (Trisha), and Juliann (Zachary); thirty-eight great-grandchildren, Dayton, Mackenzie, Seth, Paige, Ashton, Jace, Macey, Ember, Collin, Robby, Addy, Sebastian, Ellie, Carter, Emma, Lydia, Nicholas, Parker, Beau, Emily, Conner, Maddie, Riley, Orin, Tucker, Lexi, Theo, Levi, Brynleigh, Nolan, Lillie, Leona, Allie, James, Lila, Charlotte, Asher, and Fia; and two great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Dempsey.Marvin will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his family and his deep love for Christ. As a member of the Quarter Century Club, he exemplified dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence in all his endeavors.
