Southgate, MI

Marvin Leon Wilson, a devoted family man and cherished member of his community, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 92 in Southgate, Michigan. Born on September 20, 1933, in Haldeman, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of Floyd and Bertha Wilson.

Marvin spent his childhood in the close-knit town of Haldeman, where he developed a lifelong passion for basketball. Though the shortest on his team, he was known for his remarkable half-court shots. He remained deeply connected to his roots, always cherishing his school reunions in Morehead, Kentucky, as opportunities to reconnect with old friends and relive treasured memories.

After high school, Marvin moved to Michigan, where he began his career at Great Lakes Steel. He proudly served four years in the United States Coast Guard aboard the Sundew before returning to Great Lakes Steel and later joining Monsanto, where he worked until his retirement. A man who loved gathering his family, he took great joy in hosting barbecues, where his expertly grilled steaks were a highlight for all. A devout Christian, he was a longtime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Wyandotte, where he nurtured his faith and built lasting friendships.

Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Wilson, his parents, Floyd and Bertha Wilson, and his nine siblings. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Pam) Wilson, Duane (Mary) Wilson, Kane (Karen) Wilson, and Linda (Jeff) Ruelle; his twelve grandchildren, Melanie, John William "Billy" (Jacqueline), Robert "Bob" (Leslie), Jessica (Nick), Kristen (Nick), Katie (Dave), Andrew "Andy" (Jessica), Megan (Tom), Ryan (Carissa), Jimmy (Katie), Eric (Trisha), and Juliann (Zachary); thirty-eight great-grandchildren, Dayton, Mackenzie, Seth, Paige, Ashton, Jace, Macey, Ember, Collin, Robby, Addy, Sebastian, Ellie, Carter, Emma, Lydia, Nicholas, Parker, Beau, Emily, Conner, Maddie, Riley, Orin, Tucker, Lexi, Theo, Levi, Brynleigh, Nolan, Lillie, Leona, Allie, James, Lila, Charlotte, Asher, and Fia; and two great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Dempsey.

He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his family, his deep love for Christ, and the warmth, kindness, and generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.
