Martinus VanBeek ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Muffley Funeral Home Inc. on Mar. 7, 2026.Martinus "Martin" VanBeek, 60, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on March 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with gastric cancer. Born on April 13, 1965, in Ede, The Netherlands, Martin lived a life marked by innovation, dedication, and an unwavering love for God, family, and friends.Raised on a dairy farm in The Netherlands, Martin developed a lifelong passion for cows and the dairy industry. At the age of 22, he immigrated to Canada in pursuit of new opportunities and two years later moved to the United States to chase the "American Dream." Over the course of 35 years, Martin embraced numerous roles in the dairy industry, including owning and operating his own dairy in Dublin, Texas, for eleven years. For the past 23 years, he ran a successful hoof-trimming, training, and consultation business that reflected his deep commitment to the welfare and well-being of cows.Martin's innovative spirit led him to develop The Smart Block in 2014-a therapeutic hoof block designed to improve mobility and accelerate healing for lame cows. This invention became a source of great pride for Martin as it provided farmers worldwide with a reliable and comfortable solution to enhance the lives of their animals. His contributions to the dairy industry extended far beyond his own work; he was a respected mentor to many hoof trimmers and colleagues across the globe. Martin's legacy as a visionary and advocate for animal welfare will continue to impact the industry for years to come.Beyond his professional achievements, Martin was a devoted husband and father who found immense joy in spending time with his family. He shared 26 wonderful years with the love of his life, Carol VanBeek. Together they raised two sons: Evan VanBeek of Clovis, New Mexico, and Caleb VanBeek of Canyon, Texas. Whether skiing in the mountains, vacationing at the beach, grilling on the back porch, or tinkering in his shop, Martin cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He also treasured trips to visit family and friends in The Netherlands and across the United States. And while Martin was always immensely proud of his Dutch heritage and roots, he also took great pride in making a life and family in the USA, and after 35 years, decided to pursue his US Citizenship. On September 12th, 2025, it was a very proud day for him and his family when he officially became an American Citizen. The joy in his signature smile was larger than life that day and will forever be etched in the hearts of his family as one of his most proud and significant accomplishments.Martin's faith was central to his life. His love for the Lord provided him with peace that surpassed all understanding during his illness. He took great pride in being a dedicated husband and father and was deeply adored by his family and friends. His genuine and contagious smile lit up every room he entered and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.Martin is survived by his wife Carol; his sons Evan and Caleb; his mother Martina VandenBerg; his brother Gerrit Jan VanBeek (Nienke) and sister Mathilde VanBeek (Hein), nieces Anna and Marije VanBeek, and nephew Hans VanBeek-all residing in The Netherlands; his mother-in-law Bernice Picha of Waco, Texas; sisters-in-law Theresa Anderson (Clifford) and Kathy Haas; brothers-in-law James Picha (Ann) and Stephen Picha (Mary Jo); and nieces and nephews, Jeff Anderson (Colby), Jennifer Parsons (Stuart), Julia Schmulson (Salomon), Tyler Anderson, Aaron Picha (Blair), Karl Haas (Hallie), Katie Gee (Evan), Grace & Luke Picha; and great nephews, Jax and Jake Anderson, Parker Parsons, and great-nieces, Remi Sue Parsons and Colette Picha; two additional bundle of blessings on the way, bonus family member, Jennifer Williams, and his loyal canine companion, Duke.He was preceded in death by his father Johannes Martijn VanBeek; stepfather Herman Harmsen; and father-in-law, Felix Picha.A beloved friend to many, Martin's warmth and kindness touched countless lives.
