September 6, 1938— March 13, 2026
Holmdel, NJ
Martin Cid, 87, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Lincroft, New Jersey, on March 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 6, 1938, in Havana, Cuba, he was the middle child of Manolo Cid and Maria Luisa Magrina, and grew up alongside his brother Huberto and sister Ela. As a young man, Martin left Cuba aboard a small boat, enduring a difficult journey that took him first to the Cayman Islands and then to Jamaica before reaching the United States. Through determination and hard work, he built a new life in Holmdel, New Jersey, where he devoted himself to providing a better future for his family.
Martin shared 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Arminda Cid, who predeceased him. Together they raised two daughters and created a home defined by sacrifice, generosity, and unwavering love. Known affectionately as “Pillo,” a nickname that captured his naughty yet charming spirit, he enjoyed a good cigar and glass of brandy with friends, and was a passionate sports fan who loved boxing, baseball, and especially soccer, which he played in his youth.
Above all, Martin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose family remained the center of his world. He is survived by his daughters, Yvonne Cid and Aileen Porter (Duane); his grandsons, Ernest Ageitos, Wayne Porter (Veronica), and Cid Porter; his great-granddaughters, Shea and Rosie; his nephew, Daniel Cid Robaina (Gelvis); and his grandnephews, Brandon and Liam. His warmth, humility, and selfless spirit will be remembered and carried forward by all whose lives he touched.
