Martha Gibson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Collins-Burke Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.It is with great sadness that the family of Martha Vernell Gibson announce her passing on Monday, March 9th, 2026 at the age of 88.Vernell was a longtime resident of Curry, dedicating much of her life to a career of serving others. She began her career in the Curry Elementary School Library creating a comfortable learning space for young students to flourish. She later began working in the high school lunchroom where she helped feed the children of the community that she loved until her retirement from being the lunchroom manager after many years of service.She had many hobbies that brightened her life. She loved to sew, creating beautiful quilts to be passed down to the next generation, or making clothes for her grandchildren to wear. She also loved to garden, filling her yard with colorful flowers and fragrant herbs. However, none of these hobbies brought her joy like spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely.The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Curry Cemetery. J.D. Dickerson will officiate.Vernell is preceded in death by the love of her life, Glenn Gibson; her parents Richard and Resa Edgeworth; sister Georgia Rigsby, and grandson William Lee Thompson.She is survived by her children, Glenda Ramirez (Richard) and Bryan Gibson (Lori), as well as her grandchildren Richie Ramirez (Kellie), Anna Gibson (Derrick), and Abby Gibson (Mitchel), sister-in-law Karen Gail Gibson.Special Thank you to Southeast Hospice and Ridgewood Health Care.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
