She was born on August 25, 1932.Maxine was fondly known to many as Momo. She graduated from Knoxville High school in 1950, and she was an avid University of Tennessee football fan.She enjoyed talking about the happenings of Knoxville with her lifelong friends at Long's Drugstore every Saturday morning and her smile could brighten any room; she will be dearly missed.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carter Szabo; her parents, Mack and Leola Hickey; her brothers, Lee and Gregory Hickey and sister, Helen Hickey Knight.She is survived by her daughter Patricia Szabo Fowler (Tatum), her grandson TJ Fowler (Kate), granddaughter Katherine Szabo Fowler, Houston Texas, and great granddaughter Alex Grace Fowler.The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Virgina Rogers, Susan Stephen, Lona Ford and Covenant Health Hospice.The family will receive friends from 3pm-5pm on Sunday March 8 at Rose Funeral and Cremation – Mann (6200 Kingston Pike).Interment will be at 1pm on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Highland Memorial Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, online condolences are available at www.rosefuneraltn.com.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
