Martha Jean Huggins

Martha Jean (Joyce) Huggins, 85, of Pittsfield, passed away on March 7, 2026 at her home. Born in Pittsfield on October 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Paul J. Joyce and Rita (Frawley) Joyce. A graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic Central High School, Martha worked for 43 years at the Berkshire Middle Registry of Deeds as a Land Court Technical Assistant. A lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she was known for her joyful, loving, and selfless spirit, always looking out for others with quiet generosity and warmth.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Francis Huggins, whom she married on April 20, 1968; her brothers, Joseph P. Joyce of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, Philip F. Joyce (Michael) of Ellenton, Florida, and Peter D. Joyce (Wendy) of Ellenton, Florida; her sister-in-law, Pamela Breen (George) of Orange City, Florida; her adopted daughter, Karen Vosburgh; and her grandchildren, Lyndsay and Tyler of Pittsfield. Martha also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, as well as her dear friend and “partner in crime,” Elaine Costanzo of Pittsfield.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Judith and John Curtin, her brother, Rev. James Joyce, her sisters-in-law Patricia Joyce, Patricia Burnell, and Phyllis Hulburt, and her niece and nephews, Amy and Timothy Joyce, Brian Curtin, and Shaun Joyce.
