Martha Bell Harrelson

March 24, 1934 March 15, 2026

Kings Mountain, NC

Martha Bell Harrelson, 91, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, passed away on March 15, 2026 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on March 24, 1934 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Nellie Patterson Green. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Clyde Junior Harrelson, her sister Madge Wright, and her brothers Curt, Lloyd, Steve, and CJ Green.

Known affectionately as “Mot” to family and friends, Martha was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she found deep community and faith. She spent much of her working life in the textile industry and retired from Bed and Bath as a textile inspector. A dedicated volunteer at the Patrick Senior Center, she cherished day trips with friends, Bible studies, and traveling with Christian Tour Lines, including a memorable visit to Canada. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who raised her children with care and strong values. She was a loving grandmother who delighted in spending time with three generations of grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, James Harrelson (Lisa), Randy Harrelson (Carolyn), and Paul Harrelson (Connie), all of Kings Mountain, and her daughter, Brenda McAbee (Keith) of Gastonia. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the love and guidance she so generously shared.
