Marta Lou Webster Updike

Marta Lou Webster Updike of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, formerly of the Golds Valley community in Grant County, was born on August 1, 1942, in Grant County and passed away on March 13, 2026, at her residence at the age of 83.

Daughter of the late Willard and Martha Mildred Crouch Webster, Marta worked for many years as a bank teller. On December 1, 1960, she married Andrew J. Updike, who preceded her in death on June 28, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gary Lee Webster, and a sister, Andrea Fern “Fernie” Webster.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Updike and his wife Merilee of Spokane, Washington, and Rodney Updike of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; grandchildren Amber Renee (Cody) Ashcraft, Melody Updike, and Jefferson (Jasmine) Updike; great-grandchildren Arlo Augustus Ashcraft, Gatlin Oreston Updike, and Charlotte Jo Louann Ashcraft; and her brother, Larry Wayne Webster of Sacramento, California.

Marta’s life was marked by quiet dedication to her family and community, and she will be remembered with deep affection by those she leaves behind.
