Marlene Rose (Hayes) Keating, 89, of Lawrence, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on March 3, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary (McGeeney) Hayes. On January 9, 1954, Marlene married Robert Keating in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they shared more than seven decades of marriage and built a large, loving family.
Marlene devoted her life to her family and home. She was the heart of her family, finding great joy in music and art. She especially loved supporting and attending her children’s school activities and took great pride in their accomplishments. A devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, her encouragement and kindness shaped generations. Known for her selfless nature, she always put the needs of others before her own.
Her love and steady presence formed the foundation for her family, and the memories she helped create will remain a lasting gift to those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Keating; her six sons, Bob Jr., Bill (Louann), Ed, Jerry, Joe (Gina), and Tony (Kitman) Keating; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie Keating; her brother, Jerry Hayes; and her grandson, Kyle Keating.
