Mark Lindsay Needham
Mooresville, NC
Mark Lindsay Needham, 68, of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on May 2, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Lt. Col. Herbert Curtis “Curt” Needham and Joyce Patterson Needham, Mark lived a life defined by quiet dedication, professional excellence, and deep community involvement.
After graduating from NC State in 1980, Mark began his career as a health care consultant. He later earned his MBA along with General Contractor and Real Estate Broker licenses. In 1991, he joined his father and brother to form Bonanza Development, stepping in full-time in 1993. The company’s guiding principle, “Develop, Build & Manage,” reflected his steady, principled approach to work and life.
Mark gave generously of his time and energy to the places and people around him. A 22-year member of the Top of the Lake Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow, he also served on the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, earning the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award in 2006 and the Outstanding Citizen Award for Community Service in 2010. He was actively involved with Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, serving on the Executive Building Committee for the new sanctuary, and was a longtime member of the National Ski Patrol at Beech Mountain. He found joy in snow skiing, fishing, boating on Lake Norman, and above all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lee Hart Needham; children Kristen Saragoni (Nick) and Curtis Needham; brother Scott Needham (Marilyn); grandchildren Mila Saragoni and Cooper Saragoni; aunts Elizabeth Cook, Jo Coble, and Carol Hooker (Doug); sister-in-law Melissa Chopko (David); numerous cousins; and his faithful companion, Shiloh.
