Mark Green Edwards

Mark Green Edwards, age 61, of Sneads, Florida, passed away at home on March 15, 2026. A dedicated public servant and devoted family man, Mark spent 27 years as a Correctional Officer, where his sharp wit, strong presence, and signature phrase “Young man” left a lasting impression on colleagues and inmates alike. He briefly stepped away from that career to work as a long-haul truck driver, gathering colorful stories he loved to share, and later earned a business degree through night school in 2007, an achievement that filled him with quiet pride.

At home, Mark’s greatest joy was caring for his family. He was the family chef, happiest when preparing Sunday dinners that brought everyone together around a full table. Above all, he cherished his role as “Pappyaw” to his granddaughters, Molleigh and Macey McDowell, sharing countless afternoons swimming and riding carts with them at the hacienda. He often referred to his granddaughters as his “partners in crime,” and their laughter remained one of the brightest parts of his life.

Mark is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy; his parents, Guy and Robbie Fay Edwards; his children, Travis Edwards and Amber Edwards McDowell (Justin, whom he also called son); his brother, Ricky Edwards; and his sister, Jennifer Edwards Bridges (Donald). He also leaves behind his nephew, Josh Dudley (Aaron), niece, Jessica Dudley Bradley (Logan), aunt, Judy Howard, uncle, Bob Edwards, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who will long remember his humor and steadfast friendship. In keeping with his wishes, a private graveside service was held by his family.
