Marjorie Muttart ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Kessler Fahrenkrug Funeral Home - Neenah on Mar. 14, 2026.Marjorie Muttart (98), beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, took her last breath at her home and went to meet her Heavenly Father on March 13, 2026.She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 30, 1927 to Theodore and Ethel MacDonald. She was preceded in death by her parents, older brother and husband. She was proud to be the granddaughter of a Civil War veteran. She graduated from Batavia High School as salutatorian in 1945. Margie worked throughout her life, initially taking care of her mother and providing financially for her family by working in the high school office and typing the church bulletin for her parish as well as working every summer at various jobs. After graduation, she worked at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago from 1945 to 1947. Upon moving to Neenah in 1947, she worked for the Gilbert Paper Company from 1947-1949 and then part-time from 1949-1952 in their office. She married Nathan Muttart on February 23, 1949 at St. Patrick's Church in Menasha. He preceded her in death in 2010. They were married for 61 years raising six children. Nathan and Margie started farming in April 1949, initially by renting land and a house on Muttart Road. They purchased the current family farm in 1955. Despite being a city girl, she loved farm life and was a true partner in the business. She especially enjoyed working with the animals. She spent many hours putting up food for her family with her beloved sister-in-law Sarah. This included freezing corn and canning tomatoes by the bushel and strawberry jam and peach pies by the dozen! At the age of 62, Margie entered another phase in her life by obtaining a job with Associated Bank. This was her first venture into the world of computers and learned the many skills necessary to do her job well. She worked as a bank teller until she retired at the age of 80. When Nathan retired in 1991, they were able to enjoy more traveling around Wisconsin. They enjoyed a trip to Alaska to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, a gift from their children. She loved going to live performances at the Fireside Theatre and the PAC with her favorite production being Phantom of the Opera. A lifelong goal was met when she was able to travel to Isreal with her daughter Helen. Margie had a love of learning that encompassed her entire life. She was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed researching genealogy, studying the history of just about anything and attending many adult education classes. She was a member of the Neenah and Winchester Historical Societies. As her children were growing up she was involved in Progressive Homemakers, Mears 4-H Club, Lakeview PTA, Winnebago County Mother's Club, and Child Study Club. Those visiting her, even in her final days, were likely to learn an interesting historical fact she most recently discovered. A great frustration to her was developing macular degeneration which eventually took her ability to read and watch her favorite TV programs. She then became a voracious listener of books on tape. Books read and listened to certainly numbered in the thousands. Margie celebrated her 90th birthday at Waverly Beach in Menasha. She had spent time on the lake by Wavery when she was growing up. Margie was a great fan of baseball and while living in the Chicago area was able to attend games at Wrigley Field with her beloved Uncle Jack. She later became a devoted Brewer fan and listened to games on the radio. Margie enjoyed nature, watching the birds and other wildlife that often presented itself right outside her window near the bird feeders as well as watching her Mother's Day tree mature. She was an environmentalist before it became "the thing to be" and litterbug was a dirty word. Margie had a strong and long lasting faith and was a member of one of the founding families of St. Gabriel Parish. She was the treasurer for their yearly Roundup and served as a trustee. During the season of Lent she supported the Friday fish fry whenever possible. Margie appreciated good food and one of her favorite indulgences was having dessert for breakfast. Her handwritten recipes are a treasure to her children. Margie was able to support several charities and organizations: NAMI Fox Valley, Doctors Without Borders, Southern Poverty Law Center, macular degeneration research, Wisconsin Public Radio, PBS and Habitat for Humanity.Margie was adamant that she wanted the following to be thanked: Sons Ed, Bill, Rod and Joan for taking the lead in providing daily support, Granddaughter Laura for arranging Hospice care for her when it became necessary, Kate, Joe, Jack and Oso for their visits which lifted her spirits, with Joe's updates on Batavia's sports teams providing some fond memories, St. Gabriel Stampers for their beautiful handmake cards for holidays, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends who visited, brought treats and conversation, friends Carol, Liz and Paul who brought her Holy Communion, Sue Talarczyk for her phone calls and cards, Ed, Kate, Joe, Avery and Chloe for keeping her in beautiful flowers. In addition, recognition to Retina Associates staff who provided courteous and gentle assistance so she could receive her treatment for macular degeneration and lastly, but certainly not least the Compasses staff who provided their exceptional care and support. Their dedication brought comfort, peace and dignity in her final days.Margie is survived by her six children: Joan, Rod, Ed, Bill, Helen (John), and John (Amy). She leaves behind six granddaughters: Laura, Katie (Joe), Kelsey (Dillon), Kristen, Kimberly and Emma. She is further survived by six great grandchildren: Avery (Chole), Brady, Olivia, Grace, Jack and Isabel. She loved and prayed daily for them all.In lieu of flowers, Margie would have appreciated support for her favorite charities. The celebration of life will be held on March 28th at St. Gabriel's Parish in Neenah with visitation at 10:00 followed by mass at 11:00 with lunch to follow. Margie loved the colors in nature and attendees are encouraged to wear something colorful in her memory. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
