Marjorie Jane Parker Basnight, age 93, of Camden, North Carolina, died peacefully at her home on March 12, 2026. Born in Elizabeth City on May 28, 1932, to Ralph H. Parker, Sr. and Beulah Meads Parker, she was the widow of Henry Murfin Basnight, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. As an Air Force wife for two decades, she traveled across the United States with her husband, embracing each new chapter with strength and independence.
Marjorie was known for her strong will and self-reliant spirit. She found joy in reading, playing croquet, and spending quiet afternoons on her porch swing, watching the neighbors. A member of the Craftsman Guild, she was beloved for the handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she created with care and skill.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra B. Rowe (Johnnie); her son, Roger A. Basnight (Susan); two half-brothers, Thomas Parker and Jack Parker; four grandchildren, Josh Rowe (Rachel), April Turner (Brad), Tony Basnight, and Robert Basnight; and four great-grandchildren, Carson Rowe, Kamryn Rowe, Maddyx Turner, and Roddick Turner. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Agnes Armstrong, and a half-brother, Ralph Parker, Jr.
