Glen Head, NY

Marjorie G. Paffendorf, 88, of Glen Head, New York, died peacefully on March 10. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl Paffendorf; her sister, Barbara Noble; her brother, David Stenger; her daughters, Pamela Ransom (Mark Labrie), Kimberly Hardardt (Thomas), and Patricia Paffendorf Hoen (Benjamin); seven grandchildren, Sarah Ransom, Emily Ransom-Mosley (Scott), Thomas Hardardt, Holly Ransom, Hillary Hardardt, Agusten Hoen, and Wade Hoen; and one great-grandchild, Henry.

Born on October 8, 1937, in the rural community of South Gate, Indiana, to Marie and Paul G. Stenger, Marge spent her early childhood attending a one-room schoolhouse before moving with her siblings to Brookville, Indiana. She enjoyed a classic small-town upbringing and remained active in her school and community. After earning a secretarial degree, she worked as an office manager at Pension and Group Consultants in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she met Carl, the love of her life.

Marge and Carl later settled on Long Island, first in Roslyn Heights and then in Glen Head, where they raised their three daughters. A devoted wife and mother, she continued her education, earning an associate’s degree in social sciences, and worked in real estate while supporting Carl’s career with warmth and charm. Deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, she volunteered at St. Mary’s Church, the Salvation Army, and Glen Cove Hospital. She also served as president of the Nine Holers Golf Club at Brookville Country Club and enjoyed weekly games of bridge and mahjong with friends.

Marge was known for her beautiful smile, her skill and grace in the kitchen, and her enduring innocence and honesty. She cherished family reunions at the Jersey Shore and carried a lasting connection to her Midwest roots. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her faith, and the quiet joy she brought to everyone around her.
