Marjorie Elizabeth Payne Domazet

Marjorie Elizabeth Payne Domazet, a devout Christian and loving wife, passed away on March 4, 2026, at UVA Health University Medical Center in Charlottesville at the age of 97, following complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on November 1, 1928, in Washington, D.C., she was raised in Arlington, Virginia, and Culpeper, where she graduated from high school and worked as a secretary for the Second National Bank of Culpeper. After marrying, she and her husband Joseph moved to Falls Church, Virginia, and she continued her career as a secretary for the Fairfax Water Authority. A woman of deep faith, Marjorie was a longtime member of Culpeper Baptist Church before transferring her membership to Glencarlyn Road Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, and later to First Baptist Church in Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph T. Domazet, Jr.; her parents, Aaron J. Payne and Jessie Mae Payne; her brother, Carroll James Payne; and her close personal friend, Kenneth R. Henard. Marjorie is survived by her niece, Dr. Melissa Anne Payne of Delaware, Ohio, and cousins Luther Taylor, Gatewood Taylor, Clarke Taylor, Leslie Taylor, Ronnie Johnson, Jean Nash Hunsberger, Harold T. Brown, and David W.M. Brown.
Those who knew her will remember Marjorie as a lady of boundless energy who beamed love from within, offering a gentle touch and spreading kindness wherever she went. In her later years she was blessed with the devoted care of her neighbors Susan Fischer and Lois Scherbenske, along with caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care of Annandale and The Culpeper.
