Marjorie Ann Birkenbach

Marjorie Ann Birkenbach, age 90, of East Tawas, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born to Emil and Mary (Mochty) Lewitzke on January 26, 1936, in East Tawas, Marjorie remained a lifelong resident of the community. A proud graduate of Tawas Area High School Class of 1954, she worked as a dietician at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital for six years before becoming an assistant teacher at Head Start for 12 years, retiring in 1997.

She found quiet joy in reading, completing puzzles, shopping, baking, gardening, and traveling. Above all, she cherished coffee dates with friends and the warmth of time spent with her family. Deeply rooted in her faith, Marjorie was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas, where she served as a volunteer with the Elder Society and as a Eucharistic Minister. The friendships and memories she formed there remained an important part of her life.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Lori (Jim) Bailey, Diane (Dar) Richardson, Mark Birkenbach, Gary (Sherri) Birkenbach, Geri Mohr, Marcie (Pete) Dullea, and Tom (Heidi) Birkenbach; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Mary Lewitzke; her brother, Leonard Lewitzke; her sisters, Gladys Nelkie and Arlene Reinke; and her granddaughter, Jessica Davidson.
