Marise Fabie

Marise Fabie

Dallas, PA

Sister Marise Fabie, R.S.M., a devoted member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died peacefully on March 11, 2026, at McAuley Hall Healthcare Center in Watchung, N.J. Born in Pittsburgh to Constance A. Bridgeman and Joseph T. Fabie, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1949 and professed her perpetual vows in 1955. For 77 years, Sister Marise lived a life centered on God and dedicated to the service of others through the spirit of Mercy.

A graduate of College Misericordia, Sister Marise earned a degree in music. She later received a master’s degree in music education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in education from Emmanuel College in Boston. From 1952 to 1986, she taught third grade through college and served as a principal in the dioceses of Harrisburg, Scranton, Altoona, and Rockville Centre, N.Y. In 1986, she began her ministry at Catherine McAuley Center in Scranton, where she served homeless women and children with great passion and dedication until 2017.

Music was one of Sister Marise’s greatest gifts. She possessed a beautiful singing voice and shared it generously with adults and children alike through teaching, choir direction, and church celebrations. Music and singing had long been expressions of joy in her family, and she carried that same joy into her life as a Sister of Mercy. All of her life was centered in God and offered for the glory of God. She spoke of her death as the fulfillment of her deep relationship with the One who had captured her heart.

Sister Marise was predeceased by her parents, Constance and Joseph, and her brothers, Joe and Ted. She is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews, as well as many friends among the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Associates, and throughout Northeast Pennsylvania and beyond.
