Marion "Puggy" Shearer

Marion “Puggy” Shearer, 79, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday evening at her home surrounded by family. Born on August 19, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Henry and Martha Taylor, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Puggy worked as a certified nursing assistant at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington and later enjoyed a long career as a hairstylist. She cherished her family above all and found her greatest joy in spending time with them, especially her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Shearer, and three brothers, Joe Taylor, Billy Taylor, and JD Taylor.

She is survived by her three daughters, Tracy Ferguson, Sandy (Art) Dove, and Jamie (Daniel) Word; five brothers, Jackie, Jerry, Johnny, Henry, and Kenny; two sisters, Peggy and Joanie; seven grandchildren, Megan (James) Hopewell, Michael (Sam) Ferguson, Cody Dove, Ryan Word, Luca Word, David (Beth) Brock, and Amanda (Brent) Blevins; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
