Marion Martha Wiering

Marion Wiering, age 87, of Marshall, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Born Marion Martha Priebe on August 6, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota, to Walter and Felicita (Habben) Priebe, she was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler. She graduated from Tyler High School with the class of 1956. While roller skating, she met Earl Wiering, and the couple became engaged before his military deployment. Marion worked for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance in Minneapolis before marrying Earl on May 31, 1956. The couple lived briefly in Tyler before making their home in Marshall in 1959, where they raised their daughter, Tamera.

Marion worked at Peretson Music, in the counseling office at Marshall High School, and spent more than 33 years with the Minnesota Educator Academy, dedicating much of her life to education. A longtime member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall, she enjoyed the camping club and traveled extensively with Earl in their campers and motorhome. She loved boating and spending time on the water, but her greatest joy was baking for her family and friends, always ensuring they were well fed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Earl Wiering of Marshall; her daughter, Tammy (and Ralph) Dudley of Grand Blanc, Michigan; three grandchildren, Melanie (and Andrew) Kraemer, Crystal (and Matt) Metivier, and Brittany (and Justin) Lawrence; five great-grandchildren, Skylar, Norman, Adeline, Walter, and Everett; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Felicita Priebe; three babies; and her brother, Walter Priebe.
