Marion was a kind, compassionate person with a passion for genealogy and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.Marion was born in Williamsville, VT on October 4, 1930, the daughter of Lewis and Ruth (Fisher) Whitaker. She was raised and educated in Brattleboro and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1949.She had been employed as a secretary for the former R.C. Fisher Oil Company working for the family business for 20 years prior to joining the Halladay Insurance Company where she faithfully worked for over 21 years. Marion retired from Richards Inc. on August 31, 1992.She was an active member of the Dennis Rebekah Lodge No. 1 and Ladies Auxiliary to Canton Palestine No. 3, both in Brattleboro, and was a jurisdictional member of the Rebekah Assembly of Vermont.Steadfast in her walk of faith, Marion was a member of the First Christian Church of Haines City, FL and previously attended First Christian Church of Winter Haven, FL. While residing in Brattleboro, she was a member of the Guilford Community Church and a former member of the Mary Lyon Church of Buckland Center, MA.Of her hobbies and interests, she enjoyed photography and was a member of the Vermont 251 Club. Marion also enjoyed fellowship time with her family and church friends.On September 19, 1992, at the Guilford Community Church, she married Raymond "Mike" Farnsworth who predeceased her. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her beloved pet, "Sweet Pea."Survivors include one niece, Brenda Edwards; three nephews, Garvin Edwards, David Whitaker and Mark Whitaker; and several great nieces and great nephews.A memorial service in celebration of her life will take place for Florida family and friends at First Christian Church of Haines City on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at the West Brattleboro Cemetery on Mather Road. A date and time for the graveside service will be shared at a later date by the Atamaniuk Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marion's name may be made to First Christian Church of Haines City, FL Memorial Fund, 705 South 14th St., Haines City 33844, or to a charity of one's choice.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
