Marilyn Sheridan ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Pippin Funeral Home - Camden Wyoming on Mar. 9, 2026.Marilyn "Rusty" Sheridan, 89, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at her home in Clayton, Delaware, with her three surviving children at her side.Born January 17, 1937, in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the adopted daughter of Gustav "Gus" Henry Pfeiffer and Madeline (née Amberg) Pfeiffer. Through her adoption, she gained a brother, Gordon Amberg Pfeiffer of Wilmington, who preceded her in death in February 2025. The two shared a lifelong, supportive bond.Known affectionately as "Rusty," resilience defined her life. In her late twenties, she became a single mother of four boys under the age of six. Despite frequent relocations that required her to repeatedly secure new employment, she kept her family together through determination and strength. Her exceptional skills as an office manager and executive secretary made her highly employable wherever life took her.In the mid-1960s, she married Lee Sheridan. Together they made their home in Smyrna, Hartly, and later Camden-Wyoming. They welcomed a daughter, April Lynn Sheridan, 55, now of Dover. For the past decade, April served as her mother's devoted primary caregiver as Rusty courageously faced a series of health challenges.Rusty concluded her professional career as office manager of the Odessa-based engineering firm Diamond Group, which later became the Becker Morgan Group. In retirement, she expanded her volunteer service into a full-time commitment with the Brain Injury Association of Delaware, where she served as both an officer and board member. Her dedication to service extended well beyond one organization. A natural leader and organizer, she was the driving force behind numerous community fundraisers, supporting charitable causes and neighbors in need alike. In addition to her brother, she was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and Dwayne. She is survived by her sons, Jerry duPhily (Lindsay) and Ken duPhily (Lynn); her daughter, April Jackson (Rick); her grandchildren, Sophie duPhily, Bowen duPhily, Jason duPhily, Chris Wessell, Tiffany Clough, Ashley Deskins, Melissa Sams, and Michaela duPhily; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware, with a gathering beginning at 2:00 p.m. followed by celebration at 3:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Delaware, 840 Walker Road, Dover, Delaware 19904.Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.comTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Marilyn Sheridan, please visit our floral store. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
