Marilyn Sue Scott, age 88, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on Thursday, March 12, 2026.Marilyn was born in Sterling, Ill. on January 12, 1938, a daughter of the late Merle E. and Frances M. (Nielson) Headley. She married David Lloyd Scott on August 14, 1960, and he preceded her in death. Marilyn carried a deep love for David and missed him every day after he passed away. He was an important part of who she was and remained close to her heart always.Mrs. Scott is survived by her children, Bryon R. Scott of Matthews, N.C., James D. Scott and wife Jennifer of Edina, Minn., and Lori Lynn Dove and husband Jeff of Henderson, Tenn.; her loving grandchildren, Henry Samuel Scott, Austin McKean Scott, Preston James Snyder and wife Cassidy, Alexa Pearl Scott Turner and husband Prentiss, Lacie Mae Snyder, and Dylan Scott Snyder; a great grandchild, Waylon David Snyder; and her sisters, Janet May, Diana Foltz, and Sena Landreth.Marilyn was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Headley.Services will be held at McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport, Ill. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with visitation from 2 to 2:30 p.m. and a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m., with Richard Scott officiating. Expressions of sympathy in her memory are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
