Marilyn Jean Borow

Wyoming, MI

Marilyn Jean (Hewitt) Borow passed away peacefully in Wyoming, Michigan on March 7, 2026. Born on June 22, 1929 to Alfred and Ada (Rickard) Hewitt, who originally came from Cornwall, England, Jean grew up in Ironwood, Michigan alongside her brothers Jerry, Jack, Bill, Eddie, and Don, all of whom preceded her in death.

In 1950, she married William Alexander Borow shortly after his return from service in the US Coast Guard. Jean went on to earn her nursing degree from Harper Hospital and devoted much of her life to caring for others, both in her professional work and through volunteer service. She and Bill shared many happy years together on Lake St. Clair, where they enjoyed boating, fishing, and opening their home to family and friends until his passing in 1996.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lynnea (Karl) McHenry of Ten Mile, Tennessee, and Scott (Lori) Borow of Wyoming, Michigan, and by her grandchildren Derek, Jael, Matt, and Sarah, whose growth into adulthood brought her special joy and pride. Jean cherished the time she spent with her great-grandchildren Marisa, Ryan, Reed, Thea, and Piper, and she remained close to her nieces and nephews throughout her life. A proud Yooper, she found simple pleasures in gathering with neighbors for breakfast, taking classes, joining bus trips, cross-stitching, knitting for family, friends, and charities, and enjoying a good pasty, Sanders chocolate, English tea, and hot black coffee.
