Marilyn J. Olivo, age 74 of Defiance, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at ProMedica Defiance Hospital. Born in Lima, Ohio on July 9, 1951, to the late Robert and Susanna (Schroeder) Smith, she spent more than four decades working at Johns Manville before retiring in 2017.
A longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Moose Lodge #2094, and a social member of VFW #3360, Marilyn found quiet joy in daily walks, reading, shopping, and visiting wineries with her sisters. She will be remembered for her steady presence and the warmth she brought to those around her.
She is survived by her son, Correy (Tammy) Olivo, and three grandchildren, Noah, Correy, and Zoey, all of Defiance. She also leaves her siblings, Carolyn (Larry) Dorn of Ottawa, Mary (Larry Maynard) Smith of Leipsic, Robert J. (Anne) Smith of Ottawa, Theresa Kingsley of Glandorf, Ann (Mark) Dunnett of Sylvania, and Judy (Todd) Hamp of Lima, as well as her special friend Mike Stork. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her fiancé, Ray Bowen.
