Jacksonville, FL
Marilyn Ann Scott, born on September 28, 1937, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the Hospice McGraw Center in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 88. Surrounded by her family, who prayed with her and shared cherished memories in her final days, she left this world held in the love that defined her life.
Marilyn was a devoted wife to her late husband, Ronald Scott, sharing 65 wonderful years with him until his passing in January of this year. Together they built a warm and loving home filled with laughter. She proudly adopted her daughter, Brenda, at birth and later welcomed her son, Bobby, into the family. Her legacy continues through her children and grandchildren—William, Heather Lee, and Andrew Haas—who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A graduate of high school in Cheyenne, Marilyn embraced her roles as a homemaker and Navy wife with dedication and grace. She created a place of safety, comfort, and lasting memories for her family. Deeply engaged in her community, she volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program, assisted with hurricane relief efforts in South Florida after Hurricane Andrew, and remained active in her church, always ready to help those in need.
Marilyn’s engaging personality drew others to her. She loved watching sports, playing cards with family, and taking her grandchildren to the beach and playground. Her creative talents in sewing and needlepoint produced beautiful pieces that adorned her home, each reflecting her artistic spirit. She is remembered for her unwavering love, boundless generosity, kindness, strength, and vibrant presence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Mary Whalin, and her sister, Glenva Newhouse.
