Marilyn Nicotri, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Flat Rock, North Carolina, at the age of 87. Born on May 7, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, she lived a life defined by deep devotion to family, service to her community, and a lifelong passion for travel and discovery.

Marilyn spent much of her career helping others, first at Opportunity House and later at Apple Valley Middle School, where her kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on those she served. She was also a cherished volunteer at the Flat Rock Playhouse, where her vibrant energy and tireless efforts were warmly remembered by everyone who worked alongside her. In her personal life, she embraced new cultures and experiences through travel and found profound meaning in her spiritual path as a devoted member of the Eckankar Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Mildred Chiarello, her sisters Rose Koegler and Joan George, and her stepchild Toni Marie Tucciarode. Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Nicotri; her son, Vincent J. Murphy, and his wife Karen Murphy of Copiague, New York; her sister Lorraine Chiarello of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and her cherished grandchildren, Riley and Ryan Murphy. Her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will remain with all who knew her.
