Upper Sandusky, OH
Marilyn Ann Hufford Barth Baughman, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her residence on Monday, March 9, 2026. She was born on June 4, 1932, in Belle Vernon, Ohio, to Joseph Smith Hufford and Dorotha Eloise Biller Hufford Gooding. Her mother later married Monford Harry Gooding; all three preceded her in death.
Marilyn first married Merle Leroy Barth on October 8, 1950. He passed away on July 2, 1977. She later married Clarence Eugene Baughman on September 13, 1981, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2012. She worked for Ruttmann Construction Company from May 24, 1964, until her retirement on August 31, 1981.
A woman of deep faith, Marilyn was a longtime and active member of Wesley Chapel, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She also volunteered in the offices of several churches in the McCutchenville area, including Upper Sandusky United Church of Christ, First Church of God, and Wesley Chapel. Her commitment to community was evident through her 67 years in the McCutchenville Wm. Myers Chapter #196 Order of the Eastern Star, where she joined in 1953 and served as Worthy Matron in 1964 and Grand Page in 1968. She was also a Rainbow Mother Advisor and served on the Advisory Board. Among her many roles, she served as Treasurer of the Wyandot County Senior Citizens Club, President of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild, Chairman of the WMH Silent Auction, and Presiding Judge for the Wyandot County Board of Elections until 2020. She was named Senior Citizen of the Year in 2023.
Marilyn found great joy in playing cards, playing the keyboard, reading, gardening, canning and freezing produce, baking, entertaining family and friends, and traveling across much of the United States and parts of Canada. She especially cherished the Christmas season, decorating her home with care and hosting gatherings for loved ones. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
She is survived by her children, Debra Ann (Dale Michael) Woods of Delaware, Ohio, Pamela Jane (Michael Jay) Dick of London, Ohio, and daughter-in-law Debra Jean Kelly Barth of Byhalia, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Merle Barth, who passed away on September 9, 2010. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angela Marie (David) Hartman of Byhalia, Mississippi, Kevin Michael (Erin McGraw) Woods of Delaware, Ohio, Leann Michelle Woods of Columbus, Ohio, and Jennifer Marie (Travis) Moore of Columbus, Ohio, as well as her great-grandchildren, Peyton Henley Bowman, Hayden Brooke Woods, Brayden Chase Woods, Kendall Leighton Bowman, Truman Michael Moore, and Spencer Ann Moore. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson Tyler Michael Woods on December 16, 2004.
Marilyn is further survived by her stepchildren, Rebecca Baughman Estes of West Plains, Missouri, Renee Baughman of Summerville, South Carolina, Roberta Baughman Hill of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Rhonda Baughman of Winflow, Arkansas, and Roxanne (Steve) King of Summerville, South Carolina, along with her step-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren. Her life was defined by faith, dedicated service to her community, and a deep devotion to her family. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
