Marie (Mikki) Marcucci Chaffee, 90, passed away peacefully in Plymouth, Massachusetts on March 9, 2026.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, Mikki was the youngest of five children of Charles and Mary Marcucci, who had immigrated from Italy. She graduated from Quincy High School and earned a BA in English and journalism from UMass Amherst, where she first met her future husband, John B. Chaffee. She later married Francis Phenner, with whom she raised two children in Connecticut while working as a school teacher. After moving to Plymouth, she built a long and successful career in real estate, eventually forming her own firm, Plymouth Port Realty, which later became Coldwell Banker Plymouth Port. Deeply engaged in her community, she served on the Historic District Commission, Charter Review Committee, and Plymouth Downtown Harbor Committee, acted as a town meeting member, and served as director of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
In 1985, Mikki reconnected with her college sweetheart, John B. Chaffee. They shared a loving marriage of more than 35 years until his death in 2020. She is survived by her children, Michael Phenner of Dover, New Hampshire, and Jennifer Cummins (Andrew) of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; stepchildren Lori Eitelbach (Jerry) of Jonestown, Texas, Karen Burgan of Tucson, Arizona, and Thomas Chaffee (Shannon) of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren, Nicholas Phenner, Nathaniel Phenner, Cara Cummins, and Lauren Cummins; six step-grandchildren, Kymberly Martin, Adam Burgan, Luke Burgan, Jared Burgan, Spencer Chaffee, and Avery Chaffee; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Mikki cherished time with her family, cooking and entertaining, playing bridge, gardening, traveling, and days spent by the ocean. An avid reader, she was remembered as a devoted mother and Nonni, a loyal friend, and a talented businesswoman.
